Job Type/Schedule
This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Position hours are generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Essential Functions
**POSITION SUMMARY:**
This position is responsible for the coordination and completion of projects within the Institute for Informatics (I2). The employee works with sponsoring organizations and key stakeholders to define the scope, business objectives, and required project results. He/she oversees many aspects of projects and may be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously. The employee sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of project. He/she builds and maintains working relationships with I2 team members, vendors, and other departments involved in the projects. The employee relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. He/she performs a variety of tasks and leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The employee will report to the Team Lead of the I2 Project Management Office (PMO).
This role will be in the newly formed Project Management Office in the growing Institute for Informatics. As the healthcare and life sciences fields shift towards transdisciplinary and data-intensive research, I2 provides an academic and professional home for informatics science and practice. I2 engages in innovative research, workforce development and informatics service delivery. The employee filling this role is expected to promote I2 culture represented by an ethos of critical thinking, personal accountability and applied curiosity.
**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
* Develops and updates project plans, including information such as project objectives, technologies, information specifications, schedules, and staffing.
* Prepares project status reports.
* Establishes and executes project communication plans.
* Monitors and tracks project milestones and deliverables.
* Confers with project personnel to identify and resolve problems.
* Manages project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope.
* Directs or coordinates activities of project personnel.
* Identifies, reviews, or selects vendors or consultants to meet project needs.
* Schedules and facilitates meetings related to projects.
* Assesses current or future customer needs and priorities through communicating directly with customers, conducting surveys, or other methods.
* Monitors the performance of project team members, providing and documenting performance feedback to the appropriate managers.
Required Qualifications
* Graduation from a college or university plus 4 years of experience in a related field.
* Additional project management experience in the field of work may be substituted for the required education.
* Project Management Certification is preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
* Strong analytical and project management skills required.
* The candidate must possess an aptitude for patience, professionalism, tactfulness, and empathy in order to assess the specific needs of the customer and be able to communicate these to project team.
* Must be able to work with executive level stakeholders and negotiate the political landscape that may exist in the enterprise.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
* Technical expertise to assist in decision making and analysis.
* Ability to apply experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
* Ability to manage larger and more complex projects within the institution.
* Capable of preparing reports for upper management to assess status of project.
* Knowledgeable of project processes such as creating charter and business requirements to compiling project metrics.
* Experience working in agile software development as a project manager or scrum master (Scrum, Kanban, etc).
* Experience using project management and workflow software, such as MS Project, Rally, Jira, etc.
* Experience working with geographically distributed teams, clients and vendors.
* Some experience in health care, research, or higher education.
Salary Range
The hiring range for this position is commensurate with experience.
