Essential Functions
**POSITION SUMMARY:**
Perform accounting and finance functions for Dining Services which is responsible for all on-campus dining locations.
**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Prepare the quarterly financial statements (including variance analysis) for Dining Services. These are prepared for the Vice Chancellor for Finance, Executive Vice Chancellor, the Controller, the Director of Auxiliary Enterprises and others. Review and analyze Subway and Bon Appetit operations weekly.
2. Manage all internal program meal cards and programs for students, University employees and other Washington University departments. Manage all internal and external meal cards and programs for Summer Conferences and Program Services.
3. Reconcile accounts for balance sheet and income statements.
4. Complete annual operating budget for Dining Services. Prepare periodic estimates for these entities as required.
5. Administer the software system (CBord - Odyssey) which operates both Dining Services and the Campus Card accounts.
6. Approve all daily, weekly, monthly invoices, journal entries, purchase orders and interdepartmental charges as necessary.
7. Analyze the accounting systems and processes used Dining Services with the goal of streamlining the processes and facilitating systems development and or enhancements. Develop and spearhead implementation of process improvements to increase efficiencies and cost savings.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with major in accounting; Minimum 2 to 3 years of accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
* CPA and/or MBA; Knowledge of fund accounting; Experience in FIS, HRMS and Cognos.
* Excellent interpersonal skills; a service-oriented communicator who is accessible and a team player with the ability to forge relationships and bring groups together on difficult accounting issues; ability to participate as a member on various types of teams and projects.
* Possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
* A self-motivated individual driven by challenge with the ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity; strong analytical skills required. Requires ability to properly assess pertinent data and develop a framework for effective and practical solutions to complex issues.
* Possess ability to meet deadlines with varying degrees of pressure.
* Possess knowledge of internal controls and various accounting system applications. Possess ability to research and report upon accounting and other technical issues; and ability to streamline/automate transaction processing and recording.
* Requires experience working with personal computers; proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheet and data base management software applications.
* Requires ability to handle confidential information.
Salary Range
The hiring range for this position is $43,231 - $55,126 annually.
