This opportunity is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Hours are generally normal business hours but may vary due to the timing for experiments and other research activity deadlines.

Essential Functions
There are opportunities available in the laboratory of Dr. Aaron Johnson, which is focused on characterizing the mechanisms that direct muscle development and function. Ongoing projects use a variety of in vivo and in vitro models to identify the pathways that direct cardiac and skeletal myogenesis.
The primary focus of the work includes (but is not limited to):
1. Functional characterization of the FGF pathway in the context of muscle development and regeneration using Drosophila, mice, and cell culture systems.
2. Using human ES cells to model skeletal muscle disease.
3. Extending preliminary work on the role of the Hippo kinase cassette in regulating cardiac cell fate specification and cardiac morphology.
4. Initiating large-scale genetic screens to identify novel regulators of skeletal muscle morphogenesis.
Required Qualifications
Candidates with extensive experience in cell, molecular, or developmental biology that hold at least a Bachelor's degree are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
* Proficiency in molecular biology including PCR, qPCR, cloning, and immunoblotting.
* Experience in animal husbandry OR extensive expertise with cell culture.
* Experience with immunohistochemistry and microscopy.
* Solid computer skills for data processing including Excel, Creative Suite, and Image J. Previous experience generating figures is a big plus.
Salary Range
Salary is commensurate with experience.

* Must be able to provide standard care to research animals.
